Cupcakes and Wishes

To enter into a room filled with hundreds of cupcakes of every imaginable flavor – chocolate, honey, banana, green tea, carrot cake, cinnamon, butter cream, rose… a never-ending list of colors and tastes. This wish came true for me this year as my birthday weekend happened to correspond with the second annual Cupcake Camp Paris. On this one afternoon, 2,600 homemade cupcakes were sold to benefit the Make-A-Wish foundation. The event was a true success with people lining out onto the street waiting to get a taste or two (or more) of the delicious cupcakes.
I tried the chocolate cupcake with butter cream frosting, which had a light and fluffy base, but a frosting that was a little bit too buttery (if that’s even possible). I also tried one of the winners, which was an apple-maple syrup cupcake that tasted like a Back East autumn day. There were even some vegan selections and many unusual flavors like salmon and potato.
I certainly will be back there next year to eat more cupcakes. It was a great place to mingle with both expats as well as native Parisians, and nothing brings people together like cupcakes and wishes.
So what would you wish for?
